Yell from the rooftop of your million dollar home, Preach the Gospel of Media to your disciples and quote the all mighty Doctrine of War. Offense is the best defense you say; peace and prosperity you promise, but for whom? Intentions are not clear, but actions scream. The dark haze of conflict tarnishes the Earth, The sight of nations is warped, Confusion in mass which is seized upon by few.
Greed and anger makes it even easier. The future is much less important, And control is much more intoxicating. Dollars spent not on bridges or railroad tracks, not on educating Tiny Tim or strengthening the republic from which the mighty Empire has emerged. Dollars spent on bombs, or null bills. Where Big Cheeses get a nice discount, people get but a short breath of fresh air, and the street makes a little cheddar here or there, with its looming dark office buildings and fancy suits. Just a little, here or there; a stream trickling down through the Appalachia’s to fill the pockets of people who do not care. Endorsed by the People drowning in corn flakes, hot dogs, and pharmaceuticals, reaching helplessly for a Mercedes Benz or Politician to save them. Those who do escape, or are strong enough to tread, may get a voice, but spoken with clear vision? Or blinded by point of view, Right vs wrong, Unable to see that their heroes have become villains and there is no longer a good team to route for. Why else would people fight willingly and wholeheartedly? Endearing in a way. Freighting in another. It is up to us to cultivate the former, And see through the haze. Then, build something better.
Eric Arthur Blair must have been gobbling on some real’ potent shit because here we find ourselves living in a rendition of his dystopian fantasy.
