Two men cross each other on their daily commute to work. On the corner of 1st Ave N and Republican Street at 7:46 a.m., the following exchange between the men begins.
Hey, fuck you!
-
No, fuck you!
-
Said the man in red to the man in blue.
-
You voted for him?! How fucking could you?
My guy knows what’s best, and that much is true.
Do you not see what your guy is putting us through?
-
You’d rather have a maniac in charge; you know the hell which would ensue?
My guy might might be a criminal, but yours is way beyond view.
It’s no secret that lying’s his go-to!
If he gets the keys again, there’s no telling where he’d drive us to.
-
Well to hell with you! I know what’s right, and I know what’s true,
I don’t need you telling me what’s what, I’m red and I’ll never be blue!
-
Well same goes to you,
You might wear red, but I see straight through you.
And I will never stop wearing blue.
-
Well I say fuck you!
-
Well guess what, fuck you too!
-
Said the man in red to the man in blue.
Both men, now red faced and wielding clinched fists, swap one last dirty look at each other. Knowing full well they’d never through a punch, both carry on to work, each picturing the look on the others face in fearful submission.
Both men wanted something from the exchange, and both failed to get it. This something is probably not the most altruistic, and in all likelihood, it’s something they’d never even consciously admit to.
Both men haven’t a care nor a clue what makes them so hellbent on being right.
